Trip FAQs
-
All trips launch from Flamingo Marina in Everglades National Park, the southernmost marina in the continental United States. This remote location provides direct access to some of the most untouched backcountry fishing in Florida.
Because Flamingo is so remote, be sure to fuel up before heading south. Cell phone service is limited once you're in the park, although you'll typically have service near the park entrance. The marina has restrooms, a campground, a small general store, and showers.
-
No. Your Florida fishing license is included with every guided charter, so you can simply show up ready to fish.
-
To stay comfortable on the water, I recommend bringing:
Hat
Polarized sunglasses
Buff or face covering
Long-sleeve sun shirt
Sunscreen (please no spray sunscreen)
Snacks and lunch
Drinks (additional water is provided)
Rain jacket
Bug spray
Your favorite fishing rod (optional)
Summer Tip: If rain is in the forecast, it's a good idea to leave a change of clothes in your vehicle. Showers are available at the marina after your trip.
-
Everything you need for a successful day on the water is included:
Florida fishing license
Boat
Rods and reels
Tackle and bait
Ice
Expert local knowledge
A fun, memorable day on the water
If you prefer fishing with braided line, you're welcome to bring your own rod. My light tackle setups are primarily spooled with monofilament.

The Everglades backcountry offers incredible variety throughout the year. Depending on the season and conditions, we'll target species such as:
Snook
Tarpon
Redfish
Spotted Seatrout
Mangrove Snapper
Jack Crevalle
Black Drum
Sheepshead
Ladyfish
Sharks and other seasonal species
Every trip is different, and I'll tailor our game plan to give you the best opportunity for success based on current conditions.
-
One of the highlights of fishing the Everglades is experiencing one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. It's common to encounter incredible wildlife throughout the day, including:
Dolphins (porpoises)
Manatees
American crocodiles
Alligators
Sea turtles
Sawfish
Sharks
River otters
Bobcats
Deer
Wild hogs
Raccoons
Birdwatchers will also enjoy frequent sightings of:
Ospreys
Bald Eagles
Roseate Spoonbills
Flamingos
White Pelicans
Herons
Egrets
Ibis
Sandpipers
Owls
Ducks and many other native species

While half-day trips are a great introduction to the Everglades, I generally recommend booking a full-day charter whenever possible.
Because Flamingo is so remote, the run to the fishing grounds can take an hour or more depending on where the fish are. A full-day trip allows us to:
Fish more productive water
Reach less-pressured areas
Spend more time catching fish
Enjoy a relaxed pace without feeling rushed
If you truly want to experience the Everglades, a full day is well worth it.
-
The No-Motor Zone Full-Day Charter is my most productive trip and a favorite among experienced anglers.
These remote areas often produce the highest numbers of fish and are especially well suited for anglers interested in targeting Snook, Tarpon, and Redfish on both conventional and fly tackle.
-
Absolutely. Whether it's your very first fishing trip or you've been fishing for decades, I'll tailor the day to your experience level and goals. I'll provide instruction, local knowledge, and everything you need to have an enjoyable day on the water.

Boating Information
No two days in the Everglades are ever the same, and that's exactly why having the right boat matters.
Water levels, tides, wind, and seasonal conditions can completely change where the fish are and how they're best accessed. Captain Paul maintains multiple boats, allowing him to choose the ideal vessel for each trip and safely reach areas that many anglers simply can't. Whether that means navigating shallow flats, winding mangrove creeks, or venturing deep into remote backcountry waters, having the right boat ensures you're spending more time fishing productive water and less time worrying about getting there. It's just one more advantage that helps make every trip as successful and enjoyable as possible.
17’ SEASTRIKE
This boat is custom made for fishing the backcountry waters of the Everglades. With a 14 degree deadrise and a fully fiberglass hull this boat cuts through chop much better than lighter flatter bottomed skiffs resulting in a less back breaking ride. It has space enough to fit two anglers comfortably along with all the gear and tackle we need for an unforgettable day on the water. note: I can accommodate a 3rd angler but for an upcharge of $100
Length: 17’
Make: Seastrike
Power: 90 Yamaha four-stroke
Capacity: 3 passengers + Captain
Top Speed: 38mph
Range: 150miles+
17’ 11” Bossman Tortuga
This boat redefines fishable areas. Places where most boats cannot go this boat can! It can float in ankle deep water and is a joy to fish from whether you are targeting bonefish in Biscayne Bay or Redfish in Flamingo. This boat can fish 2 anglers max plus the guide and is designed for one purpose and one purpose only and that is to catch fish.
60hp Yamaha 4 stroke
Top speed of 35mph fully loaded
Get to where the fish are quick
Quiet hull design
Designed to stalk up on wary fish
16’ Coleman Ram-X Canoe
Canoes can fish the shallowest waters and are quieter than any skiff on the market. Oftentimes I will use the canoe to pole down a shoreline and 9 times out of 10 I will catch more fish in the canoe than the skiff because of how quiet it is, how little water it displaces, and how agile I’m able to pole it. This is my specialty.
